There are a number of tax credits and incentives available to homeowners and business owners who install a ground source heat pump (geothermal) system.

Federal Geothermal Tax Credits and Incentives

30% Federal Personal Income Tax Credit of for Ground Source Heat Pump Systems.
(26 U.S.C. § 25D)

Massachusetts Geothermal Tax Credits and Incentives

Ground Source Heat Pump Systems are exempt from the State's 5% Sales Tax
(Mass. General Laws, Section 64H, Section 6(dd))

Rhode Island Geothermal Tax Credits and Incentives

Rhode Island State Income Tax Credit of 25% for Ground Source Heat Pump Systems

(R.I. General Laws, Section 44-18-30)
